The firewall SoHo 401 is the perfect low price and high performance unit for those who need to share their high bandwidth internet connection safely with several users. That is because, besides being a professional firewall that protects against attacks and invasions, the SoHo 401 is also a router and a 4-port switch.
The SoHo 401 was developed to answer the needs of small offices and home users who connect to the internet via a high bandwidth connection and need a safe and simple internet sharing solution. You can connect up to 4 users directly to SoHo 401 ports, or up to 253 users using hubs and switches. The SoHo 401 is easy to install and requires no specific network knowledge.
HotBrick´s SoHo 401 allows the definition of access policies, with user division into groups with distinct internet access and policies. It also allows controlling and blocking undesirable web sites. It works as a DHCP server, assigning IP addresses to the computers on your network, and releasing another computer from that task.
With the SoHo 401 you will have firewall protection against attempted attacks and invasion. It has NAT (Network Address Translation), SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection), anti DoS (Denial of Service) features and can provide attack alerts via email.
HotBrick´s SoHo 401W has 3 LAN 10/100 ports + 1 DMZ so you can share your cable/DSL internet connection with up to 253 users on your LAN (Additional Hub/Switch or similar required).
For the protection of your business/home network, HotBrick´s SoHo 401 has a high performance firewall with SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) packets inspection, which detects and blocks DoS (Denial of Service) and other malicious attacks.
The NAT (Network Address Translation) feature performs the translation of network addresses and ports, ensuring the privacy of your internal network IPs and requiring only one public IP for your network.
The SoHo 401 allows you to block and control access to undesirable sites to prevent users from using the internet improperly.
The DMZ (demilitarized zone) feature supports applications that demand bidirectional data transmission on the internet, and also allows a server/PC on the LAN to act as an independent node that communicates with the internet in both directions, like web servers. Without the DMZ, bidirectional communication with the internet is not allowed by the firewall.
The Virtual Server feature, with port forwarding, allows sharing LAN services, such as email and FTP. With this feature external users can access specific services on your LAN.
With the Soho 401 you can create up to 5 distinct user groups, with distinct internet access and policies. For example, you can create a group with full access, one that can access only the internet and email, and another that can access only email.
If you have a dynamic IP address, which changes at each connection or some other interval, the DDNS feature stops you from having to change the IP address manually on your equipment. This way remote access, VPNs and other services that depend on IP numbers are not interrupted.
The SoHo 401 can act as a DHCP server for your network, supporting up to 253 users.
The SoHo 401 allows the passage of VPN connections (PPTP, L2TP, IPSec) by the equipment. It does not intefere with established VPN tunnels between internal and external users/servers.
The SoHo 401 supports internet communication applications such as games, VoIP and conferences, that are usually hard to use behind a firewall. The support for special applications allows the use of some non-standard applications, where each port used to respond is different from the port issuing the request.
